English as a second language students can strengthen their proficiency in English by targeting skills such as writing, speaking, listening, reading, and pronunciation. Clients will first receive an evaluation of their skills in order to determine a baseline and starting point for future sessions. Both students and professionals who speak English as a second language will benefit from one-on-one instruction on the targeted skill(s) and at a level that is geared for their individualized purposes.
Through focused one-on-one sessions, both students and professionals can better their oral communication skills by advancing in the verbal (e.g, clarity, tone, speed, fillers, language, and organization) and nonverbal (e.g., gestures, eye contact, and posture) communicative techniques they utilize in their daily lives. Ideal for business students and professionals working on oral presentation skills.
This service is geared for non-native speakers of English who wish to improve their pronunciation of the English language. Sessions will focus primarily on improving suprasegmentals (stress, rhythm, and intonation), which are the key factors that impede spoken intelligibility. Problematic segmentals (individual consonants and vowels) are also targeted during pronunciation improvement sessions.
Pronunciation improvement is also available to those who wish to reduce strong regional dialects of English while achieving a more standardized pronunciation.
Clients first receive a feedback session detailing suggestions for further development of their resume. Clients who are in the initial process of establishing a formal résumé will greatly benefit from this service. They may choose format samples and exercise autonomy in determining their process and involvement in their résumé completion.
